Dear Cheerleading Community,
As previously advised, Gymnastics Australia (GA) will be divesting out of cheerleading and the Australian Cheer Union by the end of 2018, which can be referred to here.
A few weeks ago, a survey was sent out regarding the concerns that stakeholders had in regard to Gymnastics Australia divesting out of cheerleading. After closely reviewing the feedback there were quite a few reoccurring concerns such as insurance, coaching accreditation, and communication between GA and the cheer community. Plans of action have been put into place to address these primary concerns, which will be taken care of effectively.
As part of our plan of action, Gymnastics Australia intends to keep the cheerleading community constantly updated in this transitional period from here on out.
Currently, the International Cheer Union and Australian Sports Commission are working closely to determine a new governing body for cheerleading. Gymnastics Australia is working diligently to compile and form a comprehensive handover document, which will include aspects such as; insurance and accreditation for the new governing body of cheerleading in Australia to ensure that stakeholders needs are met.
We assure the community that we are currently working as proficiently as we can so that transition can be completed by the end of 2018.
